Hailstorm, unexpected rain wrecks havoc in Maharashtra’s Jalna

Jalna: Hailstorm over the Jalna claim a life when suddenly cloudy atmosphere was formed in the district which results in heavy rain and caused huge damage to crops on Sunday afternoon.

The unexpected event takes place at around 4:30pm when hailstorm gave its attendance in Bhokardan and Badnapur talukas of Jalna district.

Bananas and Watermelon farmers faced huge loss in Badnapur whereas chili and mangoes farmers meet the same fate in the Bhokardan area due to the heavy hailstorm which also claim a life and left one critical in Khadki area.

“Crops are our only source of income. We already faced huge loss due to ongoing Coronavirus and now this unexpected hailstorm is like a ‘ghee’ in the fire,” says a local farmer from Jalna taluka.

Local farmers are expecting that the government will help them in the difficult times like this. Such unexpected rains also occurred previously in the month march which caused a loss to 44 Hectors of farm in Jalna district. The loss included crops like Bajra, Wheat and Corn.
