Former Maharashtra CM and BJP stalwart Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said no “Operation Lotus” is intended in Maharashtra as the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will fall in coming days due to its “inner inconsistencies”.
Fadnavis offered this statement while addressing to media persons in New Delhi, after an interaction with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Fadnavis claimed that his meeting with Shah was “non-political” as it was planned at seeking financial help for the sugar business in the state.
He also briefed the minister about the condition of coronavirus in the state and looked for a time from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to notify him of the scenario.
While discussing the meeting, Fadnavis said, “There was no political conversation. We are not keen on destabilizing the state government…Time is now to fight coronavirus.”
“There is no ‘Operation Lotus’ in Maharashtra…We have already said that the government is brimming with internal inconsistencies and when it falls as a result of it, we will see,” he said.
Fadnavis, who is Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly further dismissed the rumours that he may get a job in central politics.
The BJP leaders who accompanied Fadnavis includes Harshvardhan Patil, Dhananjay Mahadik, Ranjit Sinh Mohite, MLA Jaykumar Gore, MP Ranjit Nimbalkar, and Vinay Kore of Jansurajya Shakti Party, an ally of BJP.
