New India: A way forward

New India: A way forward

Sudanti Sapru

To take forward the pledge of creating a new India that is strong, prosperous and all-encompassing, prime minister Narendra Modi has launched “Sankalp Se Siddhi” (Attainment through Resolve) scheme, which aims at good governance, is a five-year plan under which new India movement 2017-2022 would take place.

The New India Movement 2017-2022 envisages India free from poverty, corruption, terrorism, communalism, casteism and uncleanliness and unite the entire country by adopting good governance and using technology.

New India 2022, the vision of the Modi government looks promising seeing significant improvements such as the reduction in corruption. There is an improvement in the corruption perception index ranking.

The other focus areas of new India 2022 have shown significant improvements such as a reduction in black money(demonetization) and dirt-free nation (Swach Bharat Scheme).

Aim of “Poverty free India”

The aim of “Poverty free India” seems almost achievable by the year 2022 with the Modi government providing loans to needy farmers. The government has launched flagship schemes such as Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Jan Suraksha Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Food security for poor, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, Mission Indradhanush, Swachh Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Start-UP India, Stand UP India, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Make in India and Housing for poor etc. These data suggest that these missions are going good.

To take forward movement, “Sankalp Se Siddhi” program was being organized across the country to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Quit India Movement.

The programs comprised of Kisan Film having a message of Hon’ble PM to double farmers’ income by the year 2022, followed by a pledge for Sankalp Se Sidhi, lecture by agriculture experts and address of the chief guest. The farmers were also being shown various activities in the KVKs and institutes to acquaint them with the latest technologies. A film on patriotism was also being screened on this occasion to motivate the participants.

A large number of farmers, extension workers, social activists and various organizations have participated in these programs. The programs are being covered widely by Doordarshan and other channels are also playing a key role in taking the message across the country. The participants have been very enthusiastic and are taking the pledge in letter and spirit to take the country forward. With the help of The New India Manthan, citizens can comment and commend (pour in their views and suggestions) on ways to achieve the prime pledges.

New India

The Prime Minister explained his idea of a New India and Indians, saying it should be a country that offers opportunities to the poor.“A new India where the poor do not want anything by way of charity but seek the opportunity to chart out their own course … Indians today are not waiting for governmental sops. They only want opportunities to be created for them so that they can work for their livelihood and prosperity.”

While on the other hand, there is not much improvement in caste politics and looks difficult to eradicate in the promised timeline. Social bans, mob lynching and beef ban are also the alarming issues that need to be addressed in the meantime.
