Jio has developed a complete 5G solution from scratch, which will allow us to launch a world-class 5G service in India. This 5G spectrum will be ready for trial as soon as it becomes available and could be ready for field deployment next year: said Mukesh Ambani, RIL chairman.
Ambani said that tests using Jio’s own 5G solution will be launched as soon as 5G spectrum is available in India. Jio had sought approval from the Department of Telecommunications for lab testing of 5G products, which Mukesh Ambani-led Telco has developed on its own.
Jio will undertake the entire process of setting up a network on its premises without the involvement of any third-party vendor or technology provider.
The telecom operator earlier this year submitted separate applications for the 5G field trial. It plans to test 5G technology and work on use cases with all telecom gear vendors including Samsung, Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei and ZTE.
