New Delhi: As Rahul Gandhi criticizing PM Modi for his soft dealing with China, on the other hand, BJP has slammed the Congress for accepting donations from China in Rajiv Gandhi Foundation amounted to Rs 10 lacs and another one amounted to Rs 90 lacs from 2005 to 2009. Also, the money from PMNRF, 7 ministries, and government departments including MHA and 11 PSUs were transferred to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation during this period.
Reportedly, the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation had received donations not just from the Embassy of china but also from the Government of China not once but at least thrice between 2005 and 2009. According to the document available on the Chinese Embassy, in India Website Rs 10 lacs were donated to give ‘financial assistance’ to its charities to the ‘ Rajiv Gandhi Foundation’.
BJP has questioned Congress about been soft towards the communist nation during the Galwan standoff and making favourable statements because of the monetary transactions between Congress and China. Rajiv Gandhi Foundation is a foundation of which the chairperson is Sonia Gandhi and others like Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Manmohan Singh and P Chidambaram among those who sit on the board.
The analysis of the Annual Report of the shows that multiple government departments, ministries, and Public Sector Undertakings ‘donated’ to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation between the years 2005 and 2013. The public money from these departments and ministries donated to a privately owned Foundation chaired by Sonia Gandhi and managed by other members of Congress.
