BJP accused Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee of deliberately “misleading” people on hiding actual coronavirus numbers in the state on Monday.
BJP general secretary and in-charge of West Bengal Kailash Vijayvargiya wrote to the CM, highlighting the discrepancy in Bengal Covid-19 bulletins regarding its number.
“When West Bengal has been hit by COVID-19, then where have you hidden Mamata Ji? People of Bengal want to know where are you and what are you doing? The state’s people and Bengali labourers who struck outside the state have been requesting you for help,” BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said.
Vijayvargiya, who is BJP in-charge in the state, alleged that the Trinamool Congress president “hid” the actual numbers of coronavirus patients and “misled” people.
He also said that there has been “corruption” in the distribution of ration as many needy people remained “hungry”. Health workers have not been given enough security, he further added.
As the total positive cases rise above 70,000 in the country due to gruesome pandemic, both are accusing each other politically in the war of words. TMC also alleged that the central government is using its machinery to defame the state government.
Meanwhile, the state of Bengal has the highest mortality rate in the country at 13.2 per cent.
